CarPlay activation guide

1. Check your screen type

The activation only works on BMW EVO ID5 or ID6 screens. It does not work on older screens (CIC, NBT). Most BMWs from around 2016 onward have an EVO screen, but always confirm before ordering.

On the iDrive display, go to Settings → System → Software version. You will see a code such as ID5 or ID6, and a firmware letter. This also tells you which activation method to use.

2. Choose the method: USB or cable

• USB stick: for firmware before "P". You copy the delivered file onto a FAT32 USB stick and apply it from the car. No PC needed.
• Cable (E-Sys): for firmware "P" and newer. You enter the delivered coding code in E-Sys with an ENET cable and a Windows PC. For coders and advanced users.

3. After payment

Once your VIN is processed, you receive either a coding code (cable method) or a download link (USB method), matching your exact vehicle. Follow the instructions for your method to apply it.

4. Region and steering

The navigation region must match the one installed in your vehicle (e.g. Europe, North America). The steering side (left/right) is used to align the activation. Choose them carefully on the order form.
